Hernia treatment according to the method of Dr. Koss is used in cases when the usual physiotherapy exercises are already late and therefore the operation is ineffective and unavoidable. This happens after the rupture of the fibrous ring, when self-healing is unrealistic. After a classical surgical operation, a herniated disc is formed in the adjacent vertebral segments, where protrusions of the discs were previously. A true recurrence after removal of an intervertebral disc herniation is considered to be the reappearance of a hernia at the same level that is observed in more than 80% of cases from the total number of operations. The reason for the recurrence of a hernia is the inability to completely remove the entire affected disk. The continued load on the resected disc leads to the degeneration of the remaining not removed parts of the disc and the repeated more significant loss of the pulposal nucleus into the spinal canal. For example, if an intervertebral hernia before surgery at the lumbar level was 8–9 mm in size, then the hernia recurrence due to a postoperative defect of the annulus will be more impressive in size and most often with the formation of a sequestered hernia. surgical intervention, but if we consider treatment by the method of Dr. Koss, when all manipulations consist only in minimally invasive treatment, the risk of a “true relapse” is extremely unlikely.
