Assessment of the state of containerization of sea transportation in Russia

The article is devoted to the research of the container transportation market by sea. The authors consider the advantages and disadvantages of using containers in the organization of commodity circulation. The structure of container cargo turnover and the dynamics of container transshipment at the most important ports of Russia serving both domestic and import-export operations through sea basins are analyzed. The reasons for the change in demand for container transportation in the period 2014-2020 are substantiated. The main directions of the development of containerization of transportation by sea are determined.
