Evaluation of platelet activity in the model of dyslipidemia rats of different age

Objective. The objective of this paper is to find out the dependence between platelet activity level in rats and the age of experimental dyslipidemia. Materials and Methods. A total of 105 healthy male rats (34 12-month-old rats, 32 18-month-old rats, 39 24-month-old rats) were enrolled in the experimental group of the trial. All the rats had experimental dyslipidemia. The control group consisted of 91 healthy male rats (30 12-month-old rats, 32 18-month-old rats, 29 24-month-old rats). The animals were kept under standard vivarium conditions. Biochemical, hematological and statistical methods were used. Results and Discussion. A slight increase in platelet functional activity with age increment was observed in the control group of rats. Alimentary dyslipidemia in rats led to apparent increase in platelet activity. Age-related platelet activity increased much faster in rats with experimental dyslipidemia, than in the control group.
