The consequences of the pandemic for people with serious mental illnesses, in particular, with schizophrenia, are an urgent problem for psychiatric science and practice. COVID-19 has had an unprecedented impact on the population around the world and places a heavy burden on patients with schizophrenia, including an increased risk of infection and poor outcomes, adverse consequences for the mental health of patients with schizophrenia, difficulties in organizing psychiatric care for these patients in inpatient and outpatient settings. The article emphasizes the importance of rapid implementation of measures aimed both at reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission and at maintaining the continuity of psychiatric care for patients with schizophrenia.
