The article studies the state of labor productivity in one of the macro-regions of the Russian Federation – the Southern macro-region. The impact of this indicator on the economic growth rates in regional economies is assessed. Statistical analysis is used to characterize the dynamics of the studied indicators in eight subjects of the studied macro-region. Growth trends are determined in each of them, and the problems of increasing labor productivity at the meso-level in modern conditions are identified, as well as potential areas for solving them. Based on the analysis, the impact of digital transformation processes on labor productivity and the volume of production of goods and services on a regional scale is also revealed, which determines the importance of assessing the factor impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies on the achievement of sustainable, balanced, and exponential development by regions. Because of the analysis of the priority areas of the national projects “Labor Productivity” and “Efficient and Competitive Economy” aimed at improving the same indicators digitally, the most significant of them are identified: the industrial Internet of Things, blockchain technologies, machine learning, digital platforms, etc. By means of a regional survey, the possibilities of increasing labor productivity and economic growth rates (as well as ensuring their stability) in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the near future were established.
