Assessment of the seaport impact on the economic growth of the region: methods and problems

The article gives the analysis of basic conditions for functioning of the seaport as a part of transport infrastructure. It studies dialectics of the relationship between infrastructure, transport and the seaport, their comparability and contrasts. Based on this, the author defines the main problems in assessing the impact of seaports on the local economy. The author came to the conclusion that methodological incompleteness of old disputes about a functional designation of infrastructure has led to the ambiguity of ideas about the development of seaports in modern conditions.
