The material discusses the issues of maintaining the social health of students with disabilities in higher education. Health is an important value, the result of the effective functioning of a person. In this regard, the creation of optimal conditions for study, work and life, contributing to the preservation of health, helping the adaptation of students with disabilities, should be considered the main task that requires investment and effort from the university and society as a whole. It is noted that most of the students with disabilities leave higher educational institutions in the process of learning. The main factor due to which students with disabilities suspend their studies is social health problems and the progression of the underlying disease. The purpose of the empirical study: to assess the impact of education on "social health": the social, physical and psychological component of students with disabilities and to identify difficult moments in learning; compare indicators of social, physical and psychological health of students with disabilities and students without restrictions. For self-assessment of each of the levels of social health, the author used a special methodology for self-assessment of states developed by S. Stepanov. The indicators obtained from the self-assessment of social health prove that the process of adaptation is complex and not always positive for students with disabilities.
