Currently, the entire global economy is experiencing very severe consequences of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Today, in the modern economic space, perhaps, there are no industries that would not be affected by these consequences. The sphere of professional education, as the basis of social and economic development of society, turned out to be one of the sectors most exposed to the negative impact of forced lockdown. The pandemic turned out to be an indicator of identifying key problems related to the applied educational technologies, the quality of functioning information and telecommunications systems, the content and methodological tools of training programs, and the organization of the educational process. This article will be devoted to the analysis of the main social problems faced by society as a result of the pandemic. The authors will conduct a study of the main distance learning platforms for students most often used during the pandemic, analyze the main pros and cons of their use, systematize the methodological issues of filling them with material and adapting them to the educational process in the context of online interaction. In the article, the authors will pay special attention to a comprehensive review of the tools used in Russian professional education in the new realities, as well as the directions of development of the professional culture of the teacher and the digital competencies of students.
