In Russian historiography till the middle of the XXth century the problem of autochthonic origin of Permskiy and Vymskiy princes was not called in question. Publication of the Vychegodsko-Vymskiy annals, containing the copyist's errors, for some time made investigators refuse from this point of view. Recently the majority of researchers have returned to traditional views, which determine the definition of Vym as a patrimonial nest of the Ermolichs, to specify the date and circumstances of their appointment as deputies, to identify their special mission assigned on Komi princes at their christening.
