“One belt, one road”: new development opportunities

The paper reviews the features of the new stage of the implementation of the Chinese initiative “One Belt, One Road" in the context of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The deterioration of the financial situation of the participating countries has led to an increase in their debt, delays in the implementation and even to the rejection of individual contracts. All mentioned has forced the Chinese government to recalculate the costs, benefits and risks associated with the implementation of some projects. However, the pandemic has also provided new opportunities to advance the initiative. China is currently actively “building" the “Silk Road of Health" and “Digital Silk Road", the ultimate goals of which are to reform the old system of global governance in the field of health and digital technologies. They are creating growth points for China as a technology power and a global provider of digital and medical infrastructure, so they will only accelerate and expand in the near future.
