The article is devoted to the processes of agricultural development of the Samara Trans-Volga region (Kinel-Cherkassky district) by odnodvortsy (owners of one homestead, the lower strata of the Russian nobility), natives of the Russian Black Earth Region, in the first half of the 19th century. The study is based on documents from the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts, the United State Archive of the Orenburg Region, the Central State Archive of the Samara Region, and published statistical materials. The authors provide a brief description of the characteristics of odnodvortsy households and trace how class orders and traditions gradually began to prevail over ethnic norms. They argue that the settlers, identifying themselves with their noble ancestors, maintained estate isolation and cultural traditions for a long time.
