Abstact. Extra-articular calcaneal osteotomy is joint-sparing procedure that is used in the correction of hindfoot deformation in the coronal plane of cavovarus and planovalgus foot deformity. Careful indications and contraindications for the procedure, with meticulous surgical technique, should be followed to avoid complications and to achieve optimal outcomes. Single plane osteotomies of the calcaneus aimed to realign the posterior part of the foot tripod through a simple transverse osteotomy at the body of the calcaneus.
