Concurrent chemo-and radiation therapy in conservative alone and combined-treatment of patients with locally advanced laryngeal and laryngopharyngeal cancers

A comparative analysis of short-and long-term results of concurrent chemo-and radiation therapy of patients with laryngeal and laryngopharyngeal cancers (T3-4N0-3M0) in combination with various physical radiomodifiers was carried out. The study group included 358 patients. The control group comprised 682 patients treated according to the same technique but without systemic polychemotherapy. The 3-year recurrence-free and overall survival rates were significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (72,6 % and 82,7 % versus 54,7 % and 63,4 %, respectively).
