The relevance of the topic stems from the restrictions on modern journalism. "Reporters Without Borders, an initiative aimed at ensuring press freedom around the world, has published an investigative report detailing how the Chinese government has increased its crackdown on journalism and the right to information over the past few years, and how it has extended its media crackdown to Hong Kong. The World Press Freedom Index, published in 2021, ranks China 177th of 180 countries, and there are currently 127 journalists in prison. Since Xi Jinping came to power, the Chinese government has intensified its efforts to control journalists, many of whom have been sentenced to years in prison for investigating taboo topics or publishing banned information. Within the scope of this article, we will analyse this issue in detail. The theoretical significance is that although media censorship is quite widespread, there is a dearth of research on this issue. The practical significance lies in the possibility of applying the results in practice.
