Oxidative modification of plasma proteins and lipids of lung cancer patients

The aim of the study was to investigate level of different markers of oxidative modification of lipids and proteins in blood plasma of lung cancer patients at different stages. 58 patients with lung carcinoma were chosen for study. We measured diene conjugates, malondialdehyde, proteins carbonyl groups, middle molecular peptides, dityrosine and SH-groups. Alteration of levels of given markers indicates increase of free radical processes intensity and vary according to stage of the disease. Content of lipoperoxidation products increases to IV stage with enhancement of formation lipoperoxidation end-products. As well we registered higher level of oxidative modification of proteins in comparison with control. Content of carbonyl derivatives increased to IV stage, however dityrosine and SH-groups levels were decreased. Level of middle molecular peptides increased to II stage and did not significantly changed to further stages.
