Oxytocin and neuropsychiatric disorders. Oxytocin and autism - overview of foreign research

The article is devoted to a review of foreign literary sources, which touch upon the aspects of research of oxytocin in people suffering from autism spectrum disorders. Particular attention is drawn to the quantitative content of the neuropeptide in the subjects. Based on quantitative analyzes of hormones demonstrated by the authors of the articles in this review, it has been shown that there is a positive correlation between the decrease in oxytocin levels and the low level of development of social and communicative skills. Also, tests have shown that with the deficiency of oxytocin in the blood, various mechanisms of disturbance of a number of behavioral functions arise.
