October revolution of 1917 in the historical consciousness of modern student youth

In the article the results of a sociological survey conducted due to the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution are analyzed. The purpose of this study was to identify the knowledge and ideas of modern youth about the revolutionary past of Russia. Respondents were students of two faculties of the Kuban State University. The results of the research showed a lack of awareness of students about the revolutionary events that took place in Russia in 1917. The bulk of information on this topic was received by them in school years. During the period of study at a higher educational institution it significantly decreased or dried up. The fuzzy nature of knowledge about the events of the revolutionary past and the absence of a strong position of the younger generation in relation to it are the consequences of this fact.
