The article discusses the main trends in the development of the modern educational environment; the role of online education in modern conditions of informatization of society, the importance of online learning for the economy of education and the effectiveness of financial investments in it are revealed; the possibilities of interaction between traditional and online learning are analyzed and the decision in favor of the choice of mixed education is argued.
