Ontological properties of utopia

The aim of this paper is to investigate the phenomenon of utopia in order to identify its ontological properties. To study this phenomenon, the author chose: the method of ontological analysis, the system and structural method, as well as the method of the historical and logical conjunction. Utopia is presented in the paper as a complex philosophical phenomenon that determines and at the same time is conditioned by human's cultural and social life. Its main types are highlighted, their typological characteristics are presented. The work shows that utopia is a special attitude of consciousness, a prognostic form of comprehension of being, existing throughout the development of civilization. It is proved that utopia as an existential-essential phenomenon has such ontological properties as immanence, polymorphism, temporality, metarealism. The main ontological concept of the phenomenon of utopia is derived, which consists in its ability to determine the essential relationship between the past, present and future.
