Surgical treatment of clavicular fractures using external fixators

The development of transosseous osteosynthesis optimal technology of clavicular fractures using a wire external fixator in view of anatomic properties of this region. Topographic-and-anatomical investigations and biomechanical experiments allowed to work out the wire and rod variants of the Ilizarov fixator configuration. Rods were inserted by us to increase osteosynthesis stability in the fixator configuration. The obtained clinical results were compared with those used for treatment of patients by classical techniques. The worked out tactics use allowed to reduce complications in number, to achieve positive results in majority of cases and to decrease periods of in-patient treatment.
