The article is devoted to one of the most important social and, more broadly, anthropological oppositions in the sacred texts of Israel - the relationship between the righteous and the sinner. As a source, the author relies on a deuterocanonical text of the Old Testament, present in the canon of the Septuagint - the book of the Wisdom of Solomon. The corpus of educational literature - Wisdom books - is often practically free from the formulation of religious precepts and norms and focuses on the formation of correct “secular” behaviour in the reader. The wisdom of Solomon, on the contrary, gives 40 Христианское чтение № 4, 2018 an eschatological perspective to all relations, continuing them into eternity. The problem of the relationship between the righteous and the sinner is considered in light of the act of accepting the “other,” the recognition of his right to otherness, rooted in religious experience, in the experience of a relationship with God or its absence. The Book of Wisdom touches upon the problem of the silence of the righteous and the perception of this silence by the sinner not only as an active rejection of his actions but also as a nuisance to him as such. Te further development of this opposition in Judaism makes it possible to trace the changes that have occurred among Israeli teachers in accepting sinning brethren: from rejection to bringing to repentance and a change of lifestyle
