This article offers the experimental study analysis of motivation for professional activity and John Holland's questionnaire application to determine personality type among students of intramural and extramural forms of the training direction “State and municipal management”. There are revealed differences in professional motivation among students of various training forms. The “Professional students' motivation” questionnaire has been used to study motivation in a professional activity [6]. Twentieth questions are presented in the questionnaire with three alternative force choices. The professional activity motives are divided into following four groups in the questionnaire: the motives of an actual work (focus on work, qualification); the motives of social work significance (including wage payment and its prestigiousness); the motives of work self-affirmation (obtaining a certain social status, the work implementation by owns life goals and ambitions); the motives of professional skills. The total number of made choices has been determined the severity of those or other professional motives for each individual respondent. The personality type among students of intramural and extramural forms of training is determining by using John Holland's questionnaire [6]: the realistic; intellectual; social; conventional (standard); enterprising; artistic. There has been determined the practical significance of obtained data, when used in the professional section process. The introduced algorithm of carrying out study can become a kind of model for professional selection in management services personnel to identify study skills and to compare employees' results already working in an organization with the results of applicants for the vacant position. This important approach is for managers training in higher school, which must meet the requirements of a modern economic state of the society and requests for new management personnel.
