Article describes the results of research in defining of optimal ratio between outer and inner diameter of axial gap electric machines with rectangle and segment magnets. It’s known that electromagnetic power of axial gap motors is proportional to magnetic flux and cross section of wires in the coil. Equation for electromagnetic power states that the power does not depend on axial length of motor notable. More important factor is an inner diameter for given outer diameter of motor. If inner diameter gets close to outer then the magnetic flux becomes lesser. In the case when inner diameter of motor is small the room for wires is not enough. So there is an optimal inner diameter for given outer dimension which provides a maximum power. The research presents and proves optimal ratio between inner and outer diameters of axial gap machines for rectangle and segment shape magnets.
