The definition of residual stresses in splined parts by initial deformations of a reference specimen

The possibility of reference specimens’ initial deformations application for the definition of residual stresses in the dangerous section of splined parts made of 12Х2Н4А and 30ХГСА steels after the cementation has been examined. The calculations have been made by the Finite Elements modeling method using PATRAN/NASTRAN program complex. It’s been shown that the calculated residual stresses distributions in the dangerous section of splined parts differ from the experimental ones no more than for 8%. The residual stresses distributions carried out by the calculation method can be used for the endurance limit prediction for the surface hardened splined parts using the average integral residual stresses criterion.
