Definition of the concept of "committing a crime for the first time" in foreign criminal law

The article compares the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in 1996 with the Criminal Codes of the CIS countries, as well as countries formerly part of the USSR, to reflect the fact of committing a crime for the first time. The conclusion is made that there are no particularly significant differences in the regulation of this circumstance and, at the same time, the appropriateness of borrowing certain ideas of foreign criminal legislation by the Russian Criminal Code in terms of differentiating and individualizing criminal responsibility depending on the multiplicity of crimes.
