In the last 20 years in Russia and other countries cultivating sunflower, the prevalence and the intensity of rust manifestation has been increasing. The information on the spread of rust on sunflower comes from the different regions of the Russian Federation where the crop is being cultivated. Specifically, in the conditions of the Tambov region for the period from 1992 to 2015 several epiphytotics of rust were noted, which were replaced by subsequent pathogen depressions (A.A. Vypritskaya, 2015). From 2007 to 2017, in the Krasnodar region, the frequency of occurrence of rust on sunflower varieties varied from 16 to 52%, depending on weather conditions and ripeness group (A.A. Detsyna, G.A. Tereshchenko, I.V. Illarionova, 2018). There is evidence of severe sunflower damage by rust in the Saratov region (Yu.Ye. Sibikeyeva, 2013). The main reason for this phenomenon is the emergence of new virulent races of Puccinia helianthi Schwein. In Russia, the pathogen race of this disease has not been studied since 1983...
