The article discusses determination of the essence of economic competence that undergraduate students majoring in education science develop during their study at the university. Basing upon theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific researches, the author defines structural components of the economic competence content. The ways to assess the maturity of this competence of pedagogical higher school students are considered.
