Optimum discretization of velocity scale in M'ossbauer spectrum measurements

The paper describes two approaches for selecting of the optimum channel widths by a discretization of the velocity scale in the process of Mössbauer spectra accumulation by means of multichannel accumulating mechanisms. The first approach is based on an analysis of the Kotel’nikov—Shannon’s frequency criterion, the second approach is based on an analysis of errors that arise in the case of a differential representation of the spectrum. In this case, the analysis is conducted in two stages: in the case of the first step the shape distortion of the ideal spectrum due to discretization of the velocity scale is considered, but in the case of the second step the influence of the statistical scatter in the spectrum by introducing of the "spectrum quality" parameter (signal / noise relation) are taken into account. The mathematical expressions are derived for estimation the width of the channel for the each approach.
