Optimal use of beta-blockers in chronic heart failure

The article discusses the beneficial effects of the appointment of BB in CHF. It has been demonstrated that the basis of the clinical effectiveness of BB therapy in CHF is a decrease in heart rate. The question of the need to achieve target doses of BB in the treatment of patients with CHF is considered. It has been shown that the administration of BB to patients with CHF and a reduced left ventricular ejection fraction contributes to an increase in the pumping function of the heart, a decrease in the number of hospitalizations for decompensation of heart failure, and a decrease in the risk of general and sudden mortality. Significant advantages of b1-selective BB over non-selective BB in terms of their effect on hemodynamics, metabolic processes, rheological parameters of blood and bronchi have been demonstrated. The tactics of the appointment of BB in CHF are considered.
