A character finds solace in art, nature, love, or friendship at the end of most poems in the genre of fragment. The article discusses in detail a case encountered in Konstantin Batiushkov’s writings when one lyric situation develops in two genre forms indicated by the poet in the titles (elegy and fragment - «otryvok»). The author of the article presents her own version: the «Elegy» was shortened by the author for aesthetic rather than for personal reasons (unrequited love). The fundamental differences between the texts account for different ideological and thematic contents of the elegy and the fragment.

Genre, elegy, alexander s. pushkin, lacunas in a text (a graphic equivalent), fragment, lyric plot, ending, konstantin n. batiushkov, autobiographism
