Geometry optimization of the SHIP straw tube spectrometer

Бесплатный доступ

The SHiP is a new fixed target experiment in the CERN SPS accelerator. It was proposed in 2013 and aimed at finding new particles predicted by many models of Hidden Sectors. The main goal of the SHiP straw tube spectrometer is to reconstruct tracks of charged particles produced by decays of neutral objects of New Physics. Its geometry affects the quality of the tracks recognition and reconstruction. This study describes the search for the optimal parameters of the SHiP spectrometer geometry. Preliminary results show that the key quality metrics of tracks recognition and reconstruction are improved by 10-15%.
