Experience of index study of civic engagement in the Yaroslavl region

Civic engagement is a dynamic and changeable phenomenon, which depends on many factors. The article presents the results of a study of the Civil Society Index in the Russian Federation over a two-year period (on the example of Yaroslavl region).Theoretical basis of the research is the theory of relative deprivation, collective action and identity theory. The author's Civic Engagement Index is formalized through the mathematical apparatus of the representation used in the study of indicators that reflects the basic elements of civic engagement. The study revealed the actual level of civil activity of inhabitants of the region in two years. A key aspect was the degree of involvement of population into public life, as well as the most effective mechanisms and civil society actors, which contribute to the manifestation of civil activity in the Yaroslavl region. The study identifies the main trends and changes in the region during the study period.
