The Experience of Empirical Exploring the Status and Role of Mass Media in a Modern Society Political System

In modern scientific discourse, there is an ongoing controversy regarding the unambiguous definition of the status and role of the media in the structure of the political system of modern society. This problem is becoming particularly relevant right now, when diplomatic relations between the main players in the geopolitical arena are extremely tense, and in order to realize their own interests, the world community has plunged into a real information war. In the current realities, the institution of mass media is not always used for its intended purpose, let’s say more, both traditional and new media are increasingly becoming a tool for carrying out the will of certain political elites, which, on the one hand, hinders the effective functioning of this civil-political institution, and on the other, contributes to the destabilization of society and provokes the emergence of there are various turbulences: from the dysfunction of public institutions to the dissemination of false information, which in our time is commonly referred to as fakes. Thus, we consider it necessary to conduct our own empirical analysis, which results in an attempt to resolve the theoretical and methodological conflict, the essence of which is reflected in the title of this study.
