The relevance of the work is due to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the glorious traditions of military education in Orenburg. On January 2, 1825 the Orenburg Neplyuev Military School was opened, 19 years later renamed into the Cadet Corps. In this context, several research problems merit scientific attention. Firstly, the characteristics of the Orenburg Corps in the second half of the 1840s is of significance, as this period marks the early functioning of the institution in its prestigious status as a cadet corps. Secondly, the identification and evaluation of its staffing composition, along with the determination of the specific features of cadet training, are essential areas of inquiry. As a result, the author came to a number of conclusions, two of which are particularly noteworthy. Firstly, the Orenburg Corps, during the period under consideration, generally aligned with similar institutions across the country. Secondly, in terms of a number of key statistical indicators, it fell short compared to its counterparts, particularly when compared to its regional counterpart, the Siberian Cadet Corps.
