Organization of the work of kindergartens in the USSR during the Great Patriotic War (on the example of Komsomolsk-on-Amur)

The paper discusses the work of preschool institutions in Komsomolsk-on-Amur during wartime. The specificity of their activity under the changed conditions is studied, and the main forms and directions of work are revealed. Documents from the funds of the city archive, first introduced into scientific circulation, made it possible to determine the difficulties faced by teachers. The author found that during the Great Patriotic War the whole system of education, including preschool education, changed. The state identified the main priorities for its development as strengthening the patriotic education of children and adolescents. The work of preschool institutions also played an important role in solving the strategic task of organizing the uninterrupted operation of defense enterprises, where women came instead of men who went to the front, so most of the care for children was taken over by the kindergarten staff.
