V. S. ElaginaThe relevance of the problem of organizing independent work of cadets in the process of their professional training in a military University is revealed in this article. The essence, features, functions and principles of independent work are defi ned. Using the questionnaire method, the attitude of cadets to the organization of independent work at the University was studied. The types of independent tasks used in classroom and extracurricular classes are defi ned. The stages of independent work are described, the systematic and purposeful organization of which contributes to the development of cognitive interest, positive motivation and creative abilities of cadets, the deepening of subject and special knowledge, mastering techniques and methods of self-activity.
