Statement of the problem. The main idea of the study is that the use of the ‘flipped classroom’ technology in the educational process of a medical university, including creative tasks, contributes to the formation in students of a set of universal competencies associated with the implementation of the ability to analyze, generalize, and draw conclusions; promote the development of mental activity and critical thinking, improve long-term memory and generally improve the quality of student learning. The role of teachers is also changing; it is largely related to the preparation of teaching materials, tasks and assignments for organizing effective independent work of students using information and communication technologies. The purpose of the article is 1) to theoretically substantiate the effectiveness of organizing independent work for first-year medical university students using the educational ‘flipped classroom’ technology and test it when organizing extracurricular independent work; 2) to prove that working with the use of the ‘flipped classroom’ pedagogical technology helps to change students’ attitudes towards the educational process and changes teachers’ views on its organization. Methodology and research methods. The methodological basis of the research is competence-based and system- activity approaches. A set of research methods was used: theoretical ones - study and analysis of psychological, pedagogical and methodological literature, systematization, comparison, modeling, forecasting and generalization; empirical ones - questioning, conversation, testing, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, analysis of the products of students’ activities. Research results. The practical significance of the work is that: - the effectiveness of using the ‘flipped classroom’ technology in organizing independent work of medical university students is substantiated; - the concept of ‘out-of-class independent work of students’ was clarified in the conditions of using the pedagogical ‘flipped classroom’ technology; - original methods and techniques for organizing students’ extracurricular work are proposed - mental maps, elements of TRIZ pedagogy, the use of a synonymous series of question words, drawing up situational tasks of a medical and practical nature; - it is justified that the proposed tasks of a creative nature can be applicable when studying the theoretical material of any academic subject at a medical university; - this method of working with theoretical material, such as mental maps (intellectual maps), can be used not only when working with students, but when writing lectures by teaching staff.
