The problem of professional burnout of social workers is increasingly included in the subject field of the sociology and management. The aim of this work is the analysis of the status, organizational factors, typical peculiarities of professional burnout of social workers. A theoretical overview of burnout in the social work carried out taking into account the latest achievements of foreign and domestic studies. The empirical base for the work was a sociological study of the problem of burnout in the municipal social service institutions of the Rostov region. The special features of burnout social workers should include the reduction of elevated levels of personal accomplishment and emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low; there is increased risk of burnout among workers from the countryside. Analysis of municipal centers of social services for senior citizens and people with disabilities shows that personnel work remains on the periphery of the attention of managers. Study of aspects of HR management in social service institutions reveals a number of factors that contribute to professional burnout in social work at the organiza tional level. These should include the lack of attention to the moral and psychological climate and social well-being of staff, stiffness and limited professional communication, the lack of preventive measures and overcome the professional burnout, lack of meaningful criteria for competence assessment of employees and the quality of the performance of specific functions and technological units; no criteria and procedures, selection and personnel evaluation. Dominating formal personnel management mechanisms, overprotection and increased loads pose additional risks of psycho-emotional stress and professional burnout.Improving the system of personnel management in social work, including the development of adequate technology selection and evaluation, development and performance appraisal, motivation and incentives, the introduction of corporate culture, mechanisms of prevention and mental hygiene will significantly reduce the risks of professional burnout in social work.
