This paper presents a comprehensive historical and legal analysis of the issues concerning the organization and operation of the information units of the police force of pre- revolutionary Russia, Tsaritsyn city in particular. The work is an attempt to give a detailed characteristics of information support to local police (late 19th-early 20th centuries) based on the approach of the domestic state. In doing so, the author reveals the regulation and practice of specialized information structures of the local police of the Russian Empire. In the article, using historical and legal method, the author shows the organizational and legal framework for the formation and development of Russian information service of the local police in the studied period.
