Mistakes and correction of law enforcement officers' Negative psychological states when mastering pistol firing skill

The article examines the causes of the mistake “anticipation of a shot” made by trainees of the Professional Training Department of the Omsk Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation when firing a firearm. It is noted that firing a firearm weapon (especially at the initial stage) is a stressful situation which violates the usual flow of psychic processes, unreasonably concentrates the consciousness on one type of activity and decreases attention. The unadvisable mistake “anticipation of a shot” made by the beginning marksmen can disorganize the movement function. When teaching “Firearms training” the authors experimentally tested the methods of diagnostics and correction of psychological state of unskilled marksmen.
