An erroneous radiology interpretation of accessory navicular bone, as a cause of incorrect surgical treatment

The foot is an important part of the musculoskeletal system, characterized by a complex anatomical organization and strong biomechanical relationships. The key element connecting the hindfoot and the forefoot is the navicular bone, which is distinguished by its individual anatomical features. These include the accessory navicular bone, the presence and appearance of which can cause diagnostic errors and the choice of incorrect surgical treatment.The article presents a case of erroneous surgical treatment of a patient with a foot injury and with presence of navicular secundum bone. In this article are being discussed the issues of diagnostics and forms of accessory navicular bone, choice of treatment tactics, protocol of patient examination, avoiding unreasonable surgical interventions.
