The article reveals the semantic ideas of Orthodox culture, discovered by considering it as an independent system. Orthodox culture in the general system of Russian culture can be considered as a special subsystem with its own laws of existence. In turn, this subsystem “from the inside” appears as a dynamic system. In it, the phenomena of Orthodoxy turn out to be structural elements (components) interconnected in a certain way. The ideological foundations of the Orthodox faith are revealed, diversely reflected by elements from the subsystems of Orthodoxy - spiritual (priority), material, artistic. Using the example of some phenomena of Orthodoxy, it is substantiated that the main source of semantic content for the material and artistic subsystems of Orthodox culture are the structural components of the spiritual subsystem - these are “Holy Tradition” and “Holy Scripture”. In order to achieve a holistic understanding of the phenomena of Orthodox culture, in their philosophical understanding, it is proposed to establish a semantic connection between all components of the unified cultural system of Orthodoxy.
