This article discusses the basic principles of legal liability. The author defines a system of principles that follow from the social structure, traditions of building legal and state life. Special attention is paid to the principles of legality, justice, and the inevitability of punishment. The article highlights the issues of the presumption of innocence, the inadmissibility of doubling the penalty, as well as the features of the principle of humanism.
