The article considers the grounds for the use of preventive measures in criminal proceedings. The question of the grounds for the election of preventive measures is important in the theory of criminal procedure and practical activity. They are fixed in Article 97 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and are universal when choosing any preventive measure.
