Of the variety of forms of custom video corporate video is becoming more and more demanded. Its use has positive dynamics; millions of films are created every year. It is considered that Russian corporate video appeared as a result of the foreign video market influence. However, we assume that such an impact could be successful due to the fact that Russian corporate video had its domestic video production prehistory, and it is bound up with long-term practice of creating custom movies. Purpose. Determining how custom films were realized in different historical conditions; Identifying key stages of the development of corporate video. Results. The history (prehistory) of custom video is inextricably linked to the history of the order in Soviet cinema. It had existed long before it started to be actively used by PR, marketing and advertising specialists. It is also worth noting that the mechanism regulating the functioning of video production was formed as far back as in the Soviet video production between 1917 and 1991. Main stages of the development of corporate video in Russia: 1991-2007, 2007-2012, 2012 up to now. Conclusion. During the period of the existence of Soviet video production was set up a steady mechanism regulating the functioning of video production and setting different types of goals. Later, it became fundamental in the commercial order system in the field of corporate video. As in most films, created under the state order, the customer of commercial video product became the determining element in shaping the goals and emotional effect, actions, way of thinking, which should affect the audience after viewing the corporate film. The «Order» existed throughout the history of the Soviet video production that later influenced the development of a corporate video, defining its specifics. Corporate video in Russia has passed through the stage of qualitative development and it is now able to compete on the international level, however the rapid development could have taken place because of the fact that Russian corporate video had its domestic video production prehistory, and it is bound up with long-term practice of creating custom movies.
