The relevance of this issue lies in the fact that ethnic culture is an integral and important element of the life of society and its people. It represents a unique environment within which the lives of individuals and societies unfold. The reality of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, arising from the collapse of the USSR and globalization, significantly exacerbated the problem of maintaining the continuity of unique ethnic cultures, including the Ingush culture, in unfavorable conditions. The aim of this article is to identify the main directions and trends in the development of ethnic culture in Ingushetia in the 1990s–2000s. The research methodology incorporates the general scientific principles of objectivity and historicism, as well as a systemic and structural-functional approach. The author has identified the main directions of the cultural policy of the Republic of Ingushetia in the ethnic aspect, including the preservation of traditions, the development of new art forms, and their adaptation to changing social realities. A significant degree of influence of political and economic instability in the Republic of Ingushetia on the development of culture has been revealed. Particular attention is paid to the role of the regional intelligentsia in shaping and maintaining the ethnic identity of the Ingush people. As a result of the research, the conclusions are formulated that, despite the difficult situation in which Ingushetia was in the period of its formation (the 1990s), the cultural sphere of its regional community has received the most complete and diverse development. Representatives of the intelligentsia created new institutions for the formation and maintenance of ethnic culture and identity, thanks to which the continuity of the development of traditional art forms is ensured in the republic from the very beginning of its existence. Despite the drastic changes in the life of society and the state caused by the collapse of the USSR and the processes of globalization, traditional culture remains an important integral component of the Ingush ethnic identity.
