The current key directions of the tourism development of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan

The article is devoted to an urgent and modern problem of improving the main directions of tourism development in the Russian Federation in uncertainty and the politicization of the economy and tourism in the world. The article analyzes the tourism industry development in Russia and assesses the main directions of development of the tourism industry. The authors analyze the main indicators characterizing the tourism industry in the Russian Federation for 2020-2022. The article defines the client segment of tourism development in the Russian Federation. The main problems and factors affecting the development and improvement of tourism activities in Russia are identified. The analysis of the dynamics of changes in world tourism indicators in the world economy for 2019-2021 is carried out. The article also identifies the main risks of the tourism industry development both for the state and for the tour operators and travel agents themselves. The dynamics of changes in the main indicators of collective accommodation facilities in Russia for 2011-2021 and the dynamics of the total contribution of the travel sector to the country's GDP for 2019-2021 are determined. The main directions of improvement and development of tourism activities in uncertainty and the political situation in the Russian Federation are proposed and determined. The authors identify the changes that have taken place in the tourism sector in the Republic of Tatarstan during this period. Drop in the main indicators of the tourism sector and related industries, the predominance of domestic and intra-regional tourism, a reduction in the number of group trips and the dominance of individual trips, and a reduction in the duration of tourist trips are among them. The article analyzes the measures to adapt the tourism policy of the republic to changing conditions and the needs of consumers of tourism services. The main directions of improvement and development of tourism activities in the conditions of the uncertainty of the political situation in the Russian Federation are proposed.
