The article examines the basic principles of compensation for material and moral damage arising from crimes against the person. The author thoroughly explores the legislative norms and judicial practices related to the process of reparation for victims. Special attention is paid to such principles as justice, compensation, rehabilitation, and restoration to the previous material and moral state, as well as their implementation within the Russian legislation. The article aims to differentiate between principles relevant to the two types of compensation, which allows for the most comprehensive analysis of this issue.
