The work addresses topical issues related to the development of a project to launch the digital currency of central banks in different countries. The author pays special attention to the features of the regulation of the launch of the digital currency in the national payment system of Russia, as well as the potential risks that credit institutions may face in the process of introducing the digital ruble in circulation.
