The article examines the current problem of the formation of the legal system as a component of ensuring the national security of the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East, experiencing a number of threats (man-made, anthropogenic, global warming). The analysis of the existing legislative framework has been carried out, which allows the state to guarantee the protection of the rights and freedoms, national values and interests of ethnic communities, to implement legal regulation in the field of traditional land use, and to create conditions for sustainable development. The priorities of legal policy are highlighted as conceptual criteria for ensuring the national security of indigenous minorities. The article substantiates the need to strengthen the legal component of the Concept of a purposeful, balanced state national Policy towards the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East, which is being developed on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin. In this area, the subject of legal research is a well-founded topic.
